Hastert is officially backing Romney, leading his IL slate...he also publically endorsed Jim O. in our Congressional race too.

Having seen what his public endorsement did for Boyd Ingemunson (Hastert's wife ran his campaign too) and seeing that both the liberal and conservative papers in New Hampshire now have published anti-Romney editorials...I'm just wondering how influencial Hastert's endorsement will be for IL voters.  He certainly doesn't have a good track record of late...Even Hastert's favorite star pupil, state Rep. Tom Cross, chose to endorse and lead the IL slate for Giuliani.

Is there any candidate that ever rode a Hastert's endorsement/Hastert-backed effort to victory?  I'd love to know...

I'd also like to know about Hastert's endorsement success history. Couldn't find much w/a quick google. How about that Hastert/Oberweiss endorsement commercial that's been all over tv ... kinda funny.

Well, he was in Iowa personally campaigning for Romeny yesterday...

LINK

So I guess we will find out in about 12 hours just how influencial he really is...

PS...Isn't it odd that he can't work in Congress, but he has time to run for Precinct Committeeman, volunteer for the Chicago Olympics and run off to Iowa on behalf of Romney...all the while the counties of the 14th are suing the Blago because they say they don't have enough time for the process which must occur becuase Hastert quit.

PSS...Oh, and the Washington Post and others are reporting the Hastert failed to report a bunch of Foley-related legal bills, and agreed to shut down his campaign (retire) rather than face large fines... LINK   His legacy takes another hit...
