Yorkville Alderman Awarded Prestigious Scholarship

The Illinois Women’s Institute for Leadership (IWIL) named Robyn Sutcliff, 3rd Ward Alderman, United City of Yorkville as a scholarship recipient in their 2008 class.
According to its website, IWIL is an educational organization that exists to encourage and train women to become effective leaders in Illinois government and politics. Among its board members are Lisa Madigan, Loretta Durbin and Linda Chapa La Via.
“This is a great honor,” Sutcliff said. “In a year, only 12 women in the state are awarded this opportunity.” The selection process includes an application, essay and interviews. “Loretta Durbin called me last week to give me the news, she was so gracious! I can’t wait to get started!”
Ms. Sutcliff’s training begins in mid-June with an orientation and leadership skills training in Petersburg , Illinois . More education will take place throughout the state as well as Washington , DC and culminate in a graduation ceremony in Chicago in December.
More information on IWIL can be found at www.iwilinfo.org.
