So Tom Cross (through his spokesman) says he doesn't think we should hike the minmum wage in IL.  Surprised?  I'm not...he's a Republican and the leader of minority in the IL House. 

But Cross gives the 'ol "it'll hurt job creation" line of rubbish a new spin and says that it's really a federal issue anyhow.  LINK

The problem with that tired old arguement is that it just doesn't hold water any more...a new study shows that really, it helps job creation...LINK  Wasn't it President Bush who visited Aurora just a few months ago to highlight small business growth in IL? (after a 2003 increase in the minimum wage I might add too)

There are many rumors about Mr. Cross including some that he'll take over for Hastert if/when he resigns, and another which says he'll run for Govenor in two years.  Whichever it is...he would be well served to remember that working class families are voting for Democrats like Senator-elect Holmes precisely because conservative politicians like Cross make it so easy to do.
