As a veteran, I am constantly amazed at the ability of non-veterans to disparage us, openly, and without consequence politically or culturally.
Take those fools at the RNC convention in 2004 wearing purple bandaids to mock John Kerry, a war hero.
The treatment of Col. John Murtha, another war hero, boggles the mind.
Today's latest example is legal, but you'll recognize the narrative. It just adds to my confusion on how my Republican friends can align themselves with these types of people.
From ATRIOS...
Realities of Warfare
Typical Republican chickenhawk attacking a bronze star recipient:
Justice Thomas refers to Justice Stevens’ “unfamiliarity with the realities of warfare”; but Stevens served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. Thomas’s official bio, by contrast, contains no experience of military service. |
