Hey All,

Chrisi V wanted this posted in the forum. I thought I'd oblige.

For Chrisi and anyone else who would like to participate in this conversation - all you need to do is click the "Register" button to your upper right. You'll then be able to post and respond to posts. You don't have to sit on the committee - we just host.

Keep in mind that we political type folks all like a good debate and even those people who agree with your veiwpoint 99% of the time may take you to task on something they disagree with. It's not intended to offend - just to keep the conversation honest. It's also a good idea to cite your sources, (link to them if possible) Properly credited sources avoid copyright issues.

From Chrisi -

Republican Hastert voted for the GOP energy bill that gave billions to oil, gas, and nuclear industries. Big oil and gas industries have given Hastert $365,238. Any Surprise? Rep. Hastert voted to strip overtime protection from millions of workers.

Big drug interest have given $493,000 to Rep. Hastert. They know who their friends are. Rep. Hastert voted for the GOP Medicare Prescription Drug Bill that will give billions to businesses and the health care industry, and force seniors to accept increases in premiums and deductibles and a growing gap in coverage for the prescription drugs they buy. Rep. Hastert voted against allowing millions of Americans to save their hard-earned dollars on prescription drugs by re-importing them from Canada, even though these were U.S. made and patient safety was ensured.

Rep. Hastert voted with Bush 100 percent of the time.
Rep. Hastert followed the GOP party 100 percent of the time.

Hastert received $2,500 from convicted DeLay associate Jack Abramoff. $1,000 from Abramoff associate and former Bob Ney chief of staff Neil Volz. With all of these ties to the Delay/Abramoff mess, is it any surprise that Hastert has: voted to allow the GOP House Leader to continue to serve after an indictment, an apparent tactic to protect DeLay.

1,861 water systems in 29 states have been contaminated with MTBE, exposing as many as 45 millions Americans to this potential carcinogen, but Rep. Hastert voted to protect the companies responsible from lawsuits by communities that need their help to clean up these systems.

Rep. Hastert voted for a massive sell-off of public lands to mining interest.

While tuition cost are rising Rep. Hastert voted to cut Federal student aid by $12.7 billion...the biggest such cuts in history.

Rep. Hastert was informed for the 3rd time in the spring of 2006 of the vile explicit IMs and e-mails Foley sent to pages. He did nothing to protect the pages from Foley.

Rep. Hastert made $2 million profit on land sold to a real estate developer within few miles of the proposed Prairie Parkway.
Google Hastert/Don Hammon...Landfill owner dump #1

We now have almost a 9 TRILLION dollar deficit and we are spending 10 BILLION each month on Bush's war and Rep. Hastert is phrasing Bush's tax cuts. Who is going to pay for this disastrous policy?

Fight terrorism...stop invading other countries...9/11 had NOTHING to do with Iraq. Stop drinking the Republican cool aid and subscribing to the Jim Jones tragedy and the mushroom principal. Keep them in the dark and feed them manure.
