| The Veterans' Disability Benefits Commission is already being called the Commission From Hell by many veterans.
The VDBC was created as part of Public Law 108-136.
The Charter of the VDBC can be found here. The most frightening statement in the Charter is that the VDBC is to determine "whether a veteran's disability or death should be compensated."
As you can see from the above quote, the VDBC will be rewriting the book on VA benefits.
Those who support the work of the VDBC, such as Rep. Steve Buyer (R-IN), Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, are pushing for this complete rewriting of VA benefits. For more on Rep. Buyer and his goals see this Military.com article.
And, the VDBC is a stacked deck. There are 13 Commission members: two appointed by each side of the Senate and House, and then the remaining FIVE appointed by President George W. Bush. This does not bode well for veterans. For more see this Military.com article on the VDBC.
The power of the VDBC cannot be underestimated. They hold the lives of millions of veterans in their hands.
I will be writing more about the VDBC as their work progresses.
Here is the link to the VDBC Home Page. You will find other pages providing information on the individual meetings of the VDBC and also many documents in MS Word, MS PowerPoint and PDF formats.
In spite of what the idot blogger suggests, this is a petition that will help disabled veterans. Please go to this link and sign:
